Welcome From the Principal

I want to welcome everyone back to school. The students came back ready to go and very anxious to learn. We are very excited about all of the challenges connected to our transition to the Common Core State Standards. While most of the learning may seem similar, the learning process will be more directed to get our students to ask questions and to be able to explain their thoughts. I truly believe that this transition will make learning more relevant and engaging for all of our students.

We are very excited to announce that the United Way and Nationwide Insurance chose our site to be the recipient of a school garden as part of the Day of Caring on September 12. Our garden plot is on the East campus and will be used by all students from 1st-8th grade and our after school program.

We were very fortunate that we had the support from Sacramento Chinese Community Service Center and the school district for this effort. We are looking to continue the expansion of the garden with a series of volunteer days. We are looking for parents and students to volunteer a few Saturday mornings to make this dream a reality.

We are also in need of parents to help provide leadership for a variety of committees on our campus, such as PTA, School Site, and the English Language Advisory Committee.

My doors are available to parents and community members at any time to discuss any concerns or ideas that you value. Together, let’s make this a great year!

Mr. Reggie Brown
